Guided Surf Coast Walk
27-29 october : Now open
Guided tour of over 40km of the Surf Coast Walk from Torquay to Aireys Inlet. The only tour of its kind.
This is your opportunity to explore the Surf Coast Walk from Torquay to Aireys Inlet like never before. The land is the land of the Wadawurrung people, and Corrina Eccles a Wadawurrung woman, will lead you on a 3 day guided walk exploring and learning about the Aboriginal culture of the area which consists of midden and ochre sites and much more. This experience will offer you more cultural understanding of the beautiful coastline. We will also be joined along the way by Ranger Peter Crowcroft from our Education team who will share with you his knowledge of our coastal environment, this area is home to animals and plants that don’t live anywhere else on Earth.
Check into the Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park mid morning where you will have the opportunity to explore the local area and take in some sights. Around midday you will be transported to Point Impossible where you will experience a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony with local Wadawurrung Traditional owner Corrina Eccles. Ranger Pete will then share his knowledge as you walk back to Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park.
Spend the evening with new friends at a Meet and Greet including drinks and canapes, at the caravan park from 5-6pm. A discount voucher for a local restaurant will be provided should you wish to go there for dinner.
Track: Today is an easy paved walk. Approx 8km.
Kick start the day with continental breakfast included in your cabin, and free coffee vouchers for Third Wave Kiosk (located just outside the park). The walk will commence in the morning and you will be provided a packed lunch and snacks for along the way. Corrina will take you to many interesting points along the way sharing the local history and ways of living on Wadawurrung country. Spot some birds, discover what washes ashore if you look closely amongst the seaweed and sand, or observe some native animals with Ranger Pete. You will arrive at Anglesea Family Caravan Park late afternoon where you will stay overnight.
Enjoy some time in the heated spa and rest your weary legs. Dinner tonight is provided at a well known and loved local eatery.
Track: Today the walk is undulating, with a mix of beach walking and gravel track. Approx 22km.
Today we will be walking from Anglesea to Aireys Inlet with Ranger Pete. Your complimentary continental breakfast and coffee is included again, and after breakfast we will hit the trail. After experiencing the beautiful scenery along the way you will arrive in Aireys Inlet and the end of the walk and also Wadawurrung Country.
Take a tour of Split Point Lighthouse (famous from the Round The Twist TV series) with your ticket included, and finally finish off with Devonshire Tea and scones at Willow’s Tea House.
